What we ask of volunteers

CYA volunteers work alongside staff in a youth-centered environment. We ask that all volunteers commit to a safe, positive experience for every student.

Respectful communication and positive youth culture
Follow staff instructions and safety procedures
Complete required screening and training (background check)
Maintain confidentiality regarding student information
Volunteering with CYA showed me that just being present and consistent for a kid can change their whole outlook. The staff made me feel like part of the team from day one.

Volunteer FAQ

Do I need experience working with youth?

No prior experience is required. We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds and provide an orientation to help you understand CYA's programs, expectations, and safety protocols. Whether you have experience in education, sports, mentoring, or simply want to give back, there's a role for you.

Is a background check required?

Yes. All volunteers who interact directly with youth must complete a background check before beginning service. This is required for the safety of the young people in our programs and is standard practice for youth-serving organizations. CYA covers the cost of the background check. The process is simple and typically completed within a few business days.

How much time do I need to commit?

We appreciate any time you can give. Volunteer opportunities range from one-time events to ongoing weekly commitments. Most recurring volunteers serve 2–4 hours per week during afterschool or summer camp programming. We work with your schedule and can place you at either our LaGrange, GA or Roanoke, AL campus. To discuss availability, email us at info@clockworkyouthacademy.org or call (706) 594-4691.
